Her posy made, she would head to the kitchen, where a fresh search began, this time amongst the hoard of vases, jugs, jars and bowls for the best setting to show them off.
She had her favourites, a little salt glazed milk jug by Sarah Walton, that Derek had bought Ruth on one of their happy visits to the potter, a squat turquoise vase was another, and a large white jug, it all depended.
