They flew to Paris for the honeymoon. Flying from Croydon with the recently formed British European Airways in a de Havilland DH.89 Dragon Rapide, a twin prop biplane.
Just imagine the excitement of stepping out, onto that runway and seeing a beauty of a plane, such as this, waiting for you to board.
