With the sad death of Nicholas, some years before, the cottage had become vacant and hearing of a young Romanian, Dragosh, an acquaintance of Josse and Silé’s needing a room, agreed to have him stay.
He loved animals and soon they were great friends and she would spend long hours in his company. Eventually he had to move on, but not before he had succeeded in getting Ruth to pick up her brushes, one final time. The result was a sweet series of little watercolour and gouache paintings of her dear Dolly.
