The Mill Stream taken by Ruth in the 1960s
Setting out from the house with a pencil and a scrap of paper, or even on occasions, the family Kodak Instamatic* she walked down to the Mill Stream to take in the willows, or cycled out to Southstoke or Binsted to soak up the views of the ripening cornfields, “Landscapes- inspired me, I had to get home and begin painting one."
* Getting photos developed in those days was so expensive, that the family rarely took photos.
